Returning after a five-year hiatus, The Orthokeratology Society of Oceania (OSO) is putting on its largest conference to date running from 1-3 September at the JW Marriott Gold Coast Resort and Spa.
OSO conferences are legendary for their cutting-edge education on ortho-k, specialty lenses, especially scleral lenses, and myopia management, while also providing the most social and inclusive vibe of any conference one could attend, said OSO membership coordinator Andrew Sangster. “The Gala Dinner is traditionally epic and will not disappoint, so come prepared for world class international speakers, education and fun on the Gold Coast.”
The conference, themed ‘The new frontiers’, offers a combination of lectures and practical workshops and features a ‘star-studded’ line up of speakers at the forefront of new technologies, research and ideas in this space, said Sangster. International keynotes are Professor James Wolffsohn, head of the School of Optometry and the Department of Audiology at Aston University, UK, whose research focus includes the development and evaluation of ophthalmic instrumentation, contact lenses, intraocular lenses and the tear film; Associate Professor David Bernsten from the University of Houston College of Optometry, US, whose main research focus is myopia, contact lenses, visual performance and aberrations of the eye; Professor Langis Michaud from the University of Montreal’s College of Optometry, Canada, whose expertise includes clinical research in contact lenses (soft, rigid and scleral), dry eye disease and anterior segment diseases; and Dr Eef van der Worp who is an adjunct assistant professor at Pacific University College of Optometry in Oregon, US, and adjunct professor at the University of Montreal University College of Optometry. A respected contact lens educator and a member of the Global Specialty Lens Symposium education committee, he is also a popular guest lecturer at several Universities in the US and Europe. Also presenting are number of Australian and New Zealand OSO fellows, including Lachlan Hoy, Alex Petty and Jagrut Lallu.
Early bird pricing is available until 30 June. OSO members and non-members are welcome to attend. For more information and registration, visit www.oso.net.au.
