Specsavers welcomed 246 graduates in 2024, up 6.5% compared with 2023, marking a new record for the company. The majority, 206, have taken roles across Australia, while the remaining 40 have joined Specsavers stores in New Zealand.

This is the largest single intake the business has ever accepted into its graduate programme since its inception, said Specsavers professional recruitment director Raj Sundarjee. “The Specsavers graduate programme is an unrivalled industry development programme that provides our graduates with the very best possible start to their careers. The size of our intake, both this year and in previous years, shows that Specsavers continues to be the employer of choice for young optometrists.”

This year, Specsavers also welcomed 23 graduates from the first graduating cohort of the University of Western Australia’s (UWA’s) optometry programme. “We are thrilled that more than half the graduating class from UWA have chosen Specsavers as the place they want to start their careers and we know they will continue to ensure we are able to provide the best eye health outcomes to the people of Western Australia for years to come,” said Sundarjee.

The newest members of the Specsavers family were officially welcomed at a two-day induction event at the Crown Conference Centre in Melbourne earlier this year.
